My friend Marco from MAD Designs let me steal some of his items to play with. This is The Furniture Set Gothica, an entire set of goodies! His designs are a bit on the goth side, and I'm a bit on the girly side...so it was fun to try to use them in 'my world'.  I will list each item used at the bottom in credits...

Week 13 Photo Challenge - "Close Call"

I have been at a loss for this theme, maybe because I've been sick (still/again/whatever). I thought about 'close call' as some sort of dangerous near-death thing, but never got around to thinking any further about it. So, I simplified ...and figured that making it "just in time" for the train, is a close call. Yeah? Yeah.

I found a great train station, at Goatswood, and the outfit fit in great with the edits. Woooo!

A shopping trip to MAD Designs

A friend of mine has opened an in-world shop, and I stopped by for a visit with Lily. MAD Designs, with creations from Marco offers some great Gothic themed items as well as some everyday items. I didn't get to take pics of his awesome gazebo or piano...or anything much- also, he's just added some new group gifts also, so we'll be going back soon and I will post new pics!

A silhouette in SL is fairy easy to do, with the right lighting. I've had these done for a bit and didn't post them due to being sick. 

Week 11 - Photo Challenge - High Key

"High Key"

Hey all. This week is more of a technique than a challenge, since SL is a bit tricky when it comes to doing something like this (without editing to death). High key is a technique used in photography where the photographer basically uses as much light as possible to remove shadows. It's best done with faces, close up and without color (in my opinion) - so, that's what I did. The photo above is simply edited to remove shadows using a simple exposure edit. The photo below is done the same, with 90% color removed and a blurred black edge. Super simple, and very lovely.

Welp. A collage really isn't my idea of a challenge, but it works for what I wanted to do - show off my pretty dress. Heh. I found a lovely sim to roam at as well!

Week 9 Photo Challenge - "Cliches"

Cliches 

Cliches are fun. They are, after all, cliches ...for a reason. I chose to go with a common movie cliche - 'the make over'. This refers to the girl (and in a few rare cases, the guy) being 'made over' from what is considered the ugly nerd type to the more popular prom queen type. This type of cliche are found in teen/young adult type movies .. Grease, She's All That, Mean Girls, Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, and so on.  To be fair...It all started with My Fair Lady...darn your lovable cuteness Eliza!

So...here we have nerd girl and the made over ...whatever she is. To be honest, I was distracted chatting with people while I did this one.

Week Eight - Photo Challenge - Long Exposure

 Ok. So this weeks challenge is "Long Exposure". This is a trick that photographers do to show movement in a still photo. It's relatively easy to do in RL, you just take a photo and leave the lens cap off for 5 seconds or longer, and you capture movement of light, or water...or a person. Well, this is a photo challenge where SL fails; since the camera in SL will only take one photo at a time. 

My only option for this is to take multiple pictures and splice them together and mimic the effect. I chose to show the "movement" of the water...Frankly, it turned out kinda lame...but I did it ...so...meh.

Week Seven - Photo Challenge - Red

Week Seven of this lovely Photo Challenge, and the them is "red". 

I had photos for this taken already, but didn't like them...so after a crappy day today, I retook them. I like these better, but I am unsure if I like them more because they fit my mood, or because they have meaning and the other pictures didn't. Heh. Anyway...I chose a fitting song to go with it. Everyone has bad days, right?

I did another one...I know these are pointless, and silly - but... Ok, I have no good excuse for doing them. 




 --What TV gameshow/reality show would you like to be on? 

I think I'd kick ass on one of those cooking shows, where you compete for the best dish. I'd probably suck in reality...but in my head - I'm a genius chef with mad skillz. 

 --What was the first movie you bought in VHS or DVD? 

I actually remember this...I bought Labyrinth on VHS with birthday money or something. I think. 

 --If you had one million dollars to spend only on yourself, what would you spend it on? 

Everything I could find. I'd buy a house, car, resteruant, glitter factory...etc etc etc. 

 --One place you've visited, can't forget and want to go back to? 

Clearwater, Florida. It's beautiful there..or was.

Not as much as I used to.

Uh. I overthink things, and probably jump into things at the same time. I'm cool like that.

Reality, lol! But, nah...let's focus on happy things instead. Gah.

Weekly Challenge - Week 3 - Recreate a Famous Photo.

Week 3 of my Photo Challenge....theme this week is "Recreate a Famous Photo". So...as per the norm, this took me a week to figure out what I wanted to do, change my mind fifty time, and then pick one of the idea I had to start with. Yay me! ... So this one is for my mom (RL). I loves her...and she loves...LOVES....the movie The Little Mermaid.

Weekly Challenge - Week Two - Interpret a Song

     

     This weeks challenge is to interpret a song. After I chose about twenty songs and then changed my mind each time...I am serious bad at making a final decision about ..well, everything. Heh. 
      I finally settled on an Avril Lavigne song from the movie Eragon. It's a sweet little song and reminds me of Nico and I. We've been through a lot, and I promise I'm not gonna get all cheesy (he'd hate that)...so I will let the song speak for me.
